Interscope launches InstallMaster 1.1 Lite
Baia Mare, Romania - August 10, 1998 - Interscope is updating its visual
setup generation tool, Interscope InstallMaster with several minor enhancements and bug fixes.
InstallMaster is a tool that developers can use to generate professional-looking installs and to
mach and exceed the requirements for "Designed for Microsoft Windows" logo.
Currently, only the Lite version is comercially
available, but we are working to bring the next two editions (Standard
and Professional) to life, so that software developers and power users may have their
full line of software distribution tools at hand.
We attempted to create a tool that can be used both by professional developers and
power users to package and distribute any kind of information electronically, focusing on
software. No learning of proprietary script language, manual script or.inf file editing
is necessary. Users can simply fire up InstallMaster, create a new setup project, add
their files in it, toggle the settings that control what features they want in their
setup and how it should operate, and then InstallMaster will build a setup kit for their
applications in a snap. Yes, it is that easy!
InstallMaster provides the fastest and most user-friendly way to develop a Windows 9x/NT
logo-compliant installation. It automatically identifies and handles self-registering
files, shared files, and core components. InstallMaster also generates the required
registry entries, such as App Paths and uninstallation, without any intervention from
the developer. It creates Start Menu entries for your application, and features an
unmatched executable file dependency checking, so you do not omit any files from
your setup kit that your application relies on. It can package your setup kit (featuring
strong encryption) for distribution on many media types, even as a single-file
self-extracting executable, suitable for Internet distribution. For a complete set of
features, please visit the Interscope InstallMaster site.
Besides the large array of features, InstallMaster is very easy to use, due to the
revolutionary point-and-click interface and the built-in exhaustive context sensitive
help, as well as the latest UI features found in all leading software packages. These
include object oriented design, clipboard and drag-and-drop support, right-click
activated context sensitive menus everywhere and last but not least the friendly
Step-by-Step Setup Project Wizard that lets you answer a few basic questions and have
a professional setup in only a few minutes.
The areas which were updated and enchanced/corrected include:
- Added several new warnings and error messages.
- Fixed several user interface glitches.
- More reliable uninstall because if the setup cannot remove files during uninstall, it will queue them for removal on the first reboot.
- Better handling of uninstall jobs that must continue after a system reboot.
- Better handling of labels used in the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel.
- Better handling of shared files.
- Fixed security issues that only appeared on Windows NT.
- Updated the core part list, necessary to stay in sync with the enhancements Microsoft is making to their operating systems.
- Updated the InstallMaster User's Guide.
For a complete list of changes, please see the file Version.txt in the InstallMaster install directory.
